Don?€™t Use Mineral Oil or Baby Oil on your Skin

I have recently had two patients mention that they were using mineral oil/baby oil products on their skin. I realized that I?€™ve never officially written about the negative effects of these products.

When I was in chiropractic school, the chemistry professor told me that these products dry the skin. He had a whole official reason (that I never fully understood), but I do know that when I stopped using my mineral oil product and switched to almond oil after my shower, my skin felt awesomely soft and healthy. Since I?€™ve been in practice the mineral oil products I have tested have all been bad.

I recommend that you use one of many other options. To name a few: olive oil, almond oil, coconut oil and products made with these.

If you have any questions about any products that you use, let us know how many you?€™d like tested so that we can allow time during your appointment to do so.

Travel in Comfort!

Speaking of traveling, last week I had a long flight followed by a drive into the mountains, where I sat in uncomfortable chairs 2 days for a professional seminar. I had purchased a self-inflating seat cushion from Magellans.com. It made all the difference! You can adjust the cushion to make it comfortable even in a coach seat, and totally deflate it to fold into your carry-on bag. It was GREAT on the plane! The cushion also has a cut-out for the tailbone, thus less pressure. Magellan?€™s also has a low back inflatable support which I tried, and it was the perfect compliment. If you are interested, the seat cushion is Item #IF413, $49.85 and the lumbar pillow Item #IF425, $29.85, both from Magellans.com.
